Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) voted in support of two pro-life bills that came before the House of Representatives.

Passing with Congressman Guthrie’s support were: H.R. 3134, the Defund Planned Parenthood Act and H.R. 3504, the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.

H.R. 3134 will defund Planned Parenthood, and all of its affiliates and clinics, for one year. 

“Federal dollars should not be going to an agency that is involved in such a horrific and disturbing practice,” said Congressman Guthrie.  “These videos have sparked a necessary conversation about Planned Parenthood’s practices, and I am pleased that the House has launched a thorough investigation on this matter.”

H.R. 3504 will institute criminal penalties for practitioners who allow or assist in the death of an infant who survives an abortion.

“Any infant who survives an abortion should be treated like the human life that they are.  Life is a gift and H.R. 3504 will ensure these infants have the opportunity to live a long and healthy life,” added Congressman Guthrie.
