Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) voted in support of reconciliation instructions that will reduce the deficit by $130 billion, while dismantling Obamacare and protecting life. Under the FY16 budget instruction, three House Committees – Energy and Commerce, Ways and Means, and Education and the Workforce – were tasked with achieving savings and relieving Americans from the burdens of Obamacare. “Obamacare is filled with burdensome policies that have translated to dropped coverage, increased costs and unprecedented uncertainty,” said Congressman Guthrie. “Obamacare continues to prove that a ‘one size fits all’ approach is not the answer. We must instead institute reforms to our health care system that emphasize the doctor-patient relationship.” Specifically, H.R. 3762 will repeal the Individual Mandate, the Employer Mandate, the Medical Device Tax, the “Cadillac Tax,” the Obamacare Slush Fund and the Auto-Enrollment Mandate. Additionally, H.R. 3762 will defund abortion providers and instead invest in community health centers. “Many women already rely on these community health centers for their care. Instead of sending federal dollars to abortion providers who do little primary care for women, we should focus our dollars on community health centers, which offer a more broad range of services for the families,” said Congressman Guthrie. ### |
