The goal in reforming our health care system should be to increase access while making it more affordable. However, with Obamacare, all I hear is about its burdensome regulations, high costs, and the negative consequences it is having on Kentucky businesses and families, said Congressman Guthrie.
Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) voted in support of H.R. 596, a bill to repeal Obamacare in its entirety. “Throughout my travels across Kentucky’s Second District, I continue to hear stories of skyrocketing premiums and higher costs,” said Congressman Guthrie. “The goal in reforming our health care system should be to increase access while making it more affordable. However, with Obamacare, all I hear is about its burdensome regulations, high costs, and the negative consequences it is having on Kentucky businesses and families.” In addition to repealing Obamacare, H.R. 596 will require all relevant House committees to submit legislative proposals that will address key faults to the health care law. “As Vice Chairman of the Health Subcommittee, I am looking forward to having serious discussions about ways to improve our nation’s health care system. Congress needs to advance meaningful health care reforms that gives patients more options and lowers costs within the health care system. We must move toward a patient-centered alternative to this overreaching law,” added Congressman Guthrie. Today’s vote follows the news of a new House working group to examine new health care reforms. Led by Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (MI-06), Ways and Means Chairman Paul Ryan (WI-01) and Education and the Workforce Committee Chairman John Kline (MN-02), the working group will develop a plan in the event the Supreme Court rules that Obamacare subsidies in the federal exchange unconstitutional in the King v. Burwell case. ### |
