Guthrie Votes to Repeal Medical Device Tax

H.R. 160 repeals the medical device tax, one of the many tax provisions included in Obamacare. The medical device tax is a 2.3 percent excise tax on the sale of medical devices.

Washington, DC  – Today, Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) voted in support of H.R. 160, the Protect Medical Innovation Act of 2015.

H.R. 160 repeals the medical device tax, one of the many tax provisions included in Obamacare. The medical device tax is a 2.3 percent excise tax on the sale of medical devices.

“The medical device tax increases health care costs and digs even deeper into the pockets of Americans,” said Congressman Guthrie.  “This tax stifles innovation and has already resulted in thousands of lost jobs.”

The bill passed by a margin of 280-140.
