Guthrie Announces 2015 Congressional Art Competition

All high school art students (grades 9-12) are encouraged to submit artwork for the competition. The first place winner will receive two airplane tickets to fly to Washington, DC to view their artwork on display in the U.S. Capitol Building and attend a reception in their honor. The winning artwork will hang in the U.S. Capitol Building for the next year.
Washington, DC – Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) announced today that the 2015 Congressional Art Competition will begin on Monday, February 16th. “Originating in 1982, the Congressional Art Competition has become an anticipated event each year,” said Congressman Guthrie. “I’m looking forward to continuing this tradition and seeing what our young Kentucky artists create this year.” All high school art students (grades 9-12) are encouraged to submit artwork for the competition. The first place winner will receive two airplane tickets to fly to Washington, DC to view their artwork on display in the U.S. Capitol Building and attend a reception in their honor. The winning artwork will hang in the U.S. Capitol Building for the next year. “I encourage anyone interested in the arts to consider participating, and wish all of the participants the best of luck in the competition,” added Congressman Guthrie. All artwork and application materials must be sent to Congressman Guthrie’s District Office by April 10, 2015. Winners will be announced on April 25, 2015. All artwork will be returned to the students. Application forms are included in the 2015 Student Packet, which is available under the “Constituent Services” section of Congressman Guthrie’s website (http://www.guthrie.house.gov/congressional-art-competition1/). A complete list of last year’s winners, including photographs of the artwork created by finalists and honorable mentions is also featured on the website.
