Guthrie Supports Senate Compromise to Build Keystone XL Pipeline

This bill received 62 votes in the Senate and includes many bipartisan compromises, and I encourage President Obama to reconsider his partisan posturing and sign this bill into law, said Congressman Guthrie.

Washington, DC Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) issued the following statement after voting in support of S. 1, the Keystone XL Pipeline Approval Act:

“Early in this new Congress, the House has already made pursuing an all-of-the-above energy agenda a top priority.  The Senate joined in that effort by passing a bill to immediately begin construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline.  Public support for this shovel-ready project is strong.  From the State Department’s own analysis to bipartisan votes in Congress, it is evident that the pipeline can be safely constructed and would provide an economic advantage to our economy and consumers.

“This bill received 62 votes in the Senate and includes many bipartisan compromises, and I encourage President Obama to reconsider his partisan posturing and sign this bill into law.  This is an important opportunity for our country to modernize our domestic energy infrastructure and boost our economy, and it should not be thrown away.”
