H.R. 3522 would allow small businesses and their employees the option to keep their current insurance plans through 2019 and also allow them more flexibility to choose affordable plans without paying penalties under Obamacare.
Washington, DC – Congressman Brett Guthrie today voted in support of H.R. 3522, the Employee Health Care Protection Act of 2013. “Just as millions of Americans found out they could not keep their health care plans because of Obamacare last fall, approximately 50 million American workers are expected to face the same reality next month,” said Congressman Guthrie. “H.R. 3522 will prevent the drop in coverage by allowing the current plans to continue to be offered, in addition to more affordable alternatives.” H.R. 3522 builds off legislation previously passed out of the House, H.R. 3350, the Keep Your Health Plan Act of 2013. H.R. 3350, which passed in November 2013, was a solution for the individuals who had received cancellation notices for their health care plans by allowing existing insurance plans on the individual market to continue to be offered in 2014. H.R. 3522 would expand this idea and allow small businesses and their employees the option to keep their current insurance plans through 2019 and also allow them more flexibility to choose affordable plans without paying penalties under Obamacare. “When President Obama announced in 2009 that, ‘If you like your health care plan, you'll be able to keep your health care plan, period,’ many Americans hoped that would be true. Unfortunately, the president’s promise was far from reality. This bill is another step by House Republicans to help American families keep the affordable coverage they have and like,” added Congressman Guthrie. ### |
