Washington, DC – Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) released the following statement, Wednesday, January 5, 2011, after being sworn into the 112th Congress by newly elected Speaker of the House, Congressman John Boehner (OH-08). “I am once again humbled to represent the citizens of the Second District in Washington, DC Under the leadership of Speaker Boehner, I know we can work together to enact policies that will bring prosperity back to our nation. “I am proud to join a new majority, and we are ready to fulfill the commitment we made to the American people to bring fiscal responsibility back to Washington. “I applaud Speaker Boehner’s commitment to get federal spending under control and the resolution he will introduce tomorrow that will enact a self-imposed cut to our own operating budgets in the House, saving American taxpayers more than $35 million. “I am thankful for the opportunity to represent Kentuckians in our nation's capital and look forward to continuing to work with them to address the critical issues facing our nation.”
