Guthrie Secures Funding for Job Training in Taylor County

Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) announced today that he secured $500,000 for job training provided by Team Taylor County in partnership with Campbellsville University's Technology Training Center.
Washington, DC – Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) announced today that he secured $500,000 for job training provided by Team Taylor County in partnership with Campbellsville University’s Technology Training Center. “I am pleased to secure funding to support job training initiatives in Taylor County,” Guthrie said. “With a growing unemployment rate, it is important that we invest in our workforce to make sure they are trained to meet the demands of the 21st century economy.” “We surveyed local businesses to determine what their immediate training needs were, and now Congressman Guthrie will help us meet these needs because of these funds,” Ron McMahan, Executive Director of Team Taylor County, said. “Many thanks to Congressman Guthrie for helping us prepare our local workforce.” John Chowning, Vice President for Church and External Relations at Campbellsville University added, “We are very pleased to learn of Congressman Guthrie’s successful efforts to secure funds for the workforce retraining that are very needed in today’s global economy. Such training is a vital component in our ongoing economic development strategies.” These funds were included in FY 2010 Labor, HHS, and Education Appropriations Act, which is expected to pass the U.S. House of Representatives this week. |
