Guthrie Secures Funding for WKU-Owensboro Campus

Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) announced today that he secured $500,000 for equipment at Western Kentucky University's Owensboro campus.

Washington, DC – Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) announced today that he secured $500,000 for equipment at Western Kentucky University’s Owensboro campus.

“I know that this is an important project for both Owensboro and WKU, so I am pleased to secure this funding to help provide equipment for the WKU-Owensboro campus,” Guthrie said.  “This campus will play a critical role in providing greater access to educational opportunities in this community, while at the same time providing jobs and economic growth.”

“We are very grateful for Congressman Guthrie’s efforts in providing these funds for the new WKU-O building,” Gene Tice, Director of the WKU-Owensboro campus said. “This funding will allow us to equip our new classrooms and meeting rooms with the latest technology to best deliver classes to our community.  This support is especially critical for this campus because we must be able to connect our faculty and students on multiple campuses.”

These funds were included in FY 2010 Labor, HHS, and Education Appropriations Act, which is expected to pass the U.S. House of Representatives this week.
