Guthrie and Whitfield Usher Funds for Audubon Area Community Services Bus Facility Through House

Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) and Congressman Ed Whitfield (KY-01) announced critical funding for the Audubon Area Community Services Bus Facility today.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) and Congressman Ed Whitfield (KY-01) announced critical funding for the Audubon Area Community Services Bus Facility today.

“I am pleased to help secure funding to address this regional transportation service,” Guthrie said.  “It is critical that we provide the necessary resources to make sure this system continues meeting the needs of our region, particularly rural communities that most need transportation services.”

“During tough economic times, it is especially important for the federal government to step up and ensure local communities have the resources they need to provide critical services to area residents.” Whitfield said. “I was pleased to request these funds to make certain transportation services in the area are safe and reliable.”

The Department of Transportation, and Housing and Urban Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act of 2010 includes $1.35 million for the Audubon Area Community Services to construct a bus facility, which will help ensure safe service for residents throughout the area who rely on these transportation services.  This bill is expected to pass the U.S. House of Representatives this week.

Audubon Area is one of the premier family and community services agencies in Kentucky that serves 34 western Kentucky counties.  The program’s services include Child Care Assistance, Community Services Block Grant, Counseling Services, Green River Intra-County Transit System (GRITS), Head Start, Senior Service Corps and Weatherization.
