Guthrie Hosts Seniors Information Fair

Washington, DC - Congressman Brett Guthrie will host a Seniors Information Fair on Monday February 22, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. CT at the WKU Center for Research & Development (also known as the Ôold mall') located at 2413 Nashville Road in Bowling Green, Ky.

Washington, DC – Congressman Brett Guthrie will host a Seniors Information Fair on Monday February 22, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. CT at the WKU Center for Research & Development (also known as the ‘old mall’) located at 2413 Nashville Road in Bowling Green, Ky.

With over 50 participating organizations and businesses, this free event will address a variety of topics important to seniors and their friends, family or caregivers including health and aging issues, benefits counseling, disaster preparedness, fraud and crime prevention, and community activities.

“Seniors and their families face many challenges and we need to do all we can to ensure they have the tools and information they need to meet these issues head on,” Congressman Guthrie said. “I am excited about the number of participants involved in the event and looking forward to the seminars from the Social Security Administration, Medicare,  Exercise Program ‘Silver Sneakers’ and the Bowling Green Police Department.”

The BRADD Area Agency of Aging & Caregiver Program will have representatives on site to answer question about aging services offered through the state and federal government.

WKU’s Institute for Rural Health and Development will be on hand to provide free blood pressure screening and heart risk assessments.
