Washington, DC – Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) was invited to travel on an official Congressional mission to the Guantanamo Bay, Cuba detention camp today for a one-day fact finding mission.

“Guantanamo Bay is at the center of the debate on national security,” Guthrie said.  “I’m very fortunate to have the opportunity to go and visit this facility.  Maintaining a safe and secure way to detain terrorists is a critical part of protecting the American people.  I look forward to getting a first-hand perspective on the situation there and helping develop a strategy as we move forward.”

Guthrie and other Members of Congress will tour the facility and visit with military officials and return before Congress convenes this evening.
