Guthrie Announces Grant to Create 500 Temporary Jobs

Congressman Brett Guthrie (Bowling Green) announced today that the Department of Labor is awarding Kentucky's Education and Workforce Development Cabinet with a National Emergency Grant in the initial amount of over $1.7 million to create temporary jobs related to clean-up efforts resulting from January's severe ice storm.

Washington, DC – Congressman Brett Guthrie (Bowling Green) announced today that  the Department of Labor is awarding Kentucky’s Education and Workforce Development Cabinet with a National Emergency Grant in the initial amount of over $1.7 million to create temporary jobs related to clean-up efforts resulting from January’s severe ice storm. 

“As the Second District continues to recover from the most devastating natural disaster in our history, this grant will be a tremendous help,” Guthrie said.  “Not only will it provide necessary services to help us recover, but it will also create much needed jobs in this time of economic difficulty.”

These funds will provide temporary employment for the clean-up, demolition, repair, renovation, and reconstruction of destroyed public facilities.
