Guthrie Announces Grants for Owensboro Area Agencies

Congressman Brett Guthrie (Bowling Green) announced today that several Daviess County agencies received grants totaling more than $280,000 from the Department of Homeland Security. These grants will enable the agencies to provide protection for critical port infrastructures from terrorism.

Washington, DC – Congressman Brett Guthrie (Bowling Green) announced today that several Daviess County agencies received grants totaling more than $280,000 from the Department of Homeland Security.  These grants will enable the agencies to provide protection for critical port infrastructures from terrorism.

“I am pleased that the Department of Homeland Security recognized the needs to keep the Owensboro and Daviess County riverfront safe from terrorism,” Congressman Guthrie said.  “As a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, it is important to me that these agencies will have the necessary funds to prevent attacks, and if necessary, respond to and recover from attacks.  I congratulate each of them on receiving these grants.”

Guthrie announced grants for the following agencies:

  • City of Owensboro Fire Department - $187,864
  • Green River Area Development District - $19,575
  • Owensboro Riverport Authority - $32,625
  • Southern States Cooperative - $17,000
  • Yelvington Fire Department - $25,000
