Congressman Brett Guthrie (Bowling Green) announced today that several counties will receive federal funding to assist with debris clean-up in waterways following the devastating ice storm that hit the region in January 2009.
Washington, DC - Congressman Brett Guthrie (Bowling Green) announced today that several counties will receive federal funding to assist with debris clean-up in waterways following the devastating ice storm that hit the region in January 2009.
“Last month, I toured creeks in both Daviess and Hancock Counties to survey the damage from earlier this year. When I saw the extent of the destruction, it became a top priority to help the local governments across the Second District get the assistance they needed to remove the debris,” Guthrie said. “I am extremely pleased we were able to accomplish that. Providing these counties with the funding they need is a critical step as we continue on the road to recovery.”
The funding is part of the Emergency Watershed Program administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Congressman Guthrie announced grants for the following local governments:
