Free Health Screenings; Seminars from UK Cooperative, Owensboro Police Department, Daviess County Sheriff’s Office
Washington, D.C. –Congressman Brett Guthrie will host a Seniors Information Fair on Thursday April 1, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. CT at Bellevue Baptist Church located at 4950 Kentucky 56 in Owensboro, Ky.
With over 30 participating organizations and businesses, this free event will address a variety of topics important to seniors and their friends, family and caregivers including health and aging issues, benefits counseling, disaster preparedness, fraud and crime prevention, and community activities.
“Seniors and their families face many challenges and we need to do all we can to ensure they have the tools and information they need to meet these issues head on,” Congressman Guthrie said.
WKU’s Institute for Rural Health and Development will be on hand to provide free blood pressure screening and heart risk assessments.
The following participants will be on hand to conduct free seminars during the event:
Daviess County Sheriff’s Office: “Identity Theft and Scams” 9:15 a.m. and 10:15 a.m.
Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office: “Elder Abuse Prevention” 9:15 a.m. and 10:15 a.m.
Owensboro Police Department: “Senior Citizens Safety” 9:45 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.
UK Cooperative Extension Agent: “Quick and Easy Meals for 1 or 2” 9:45 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.
Social Security Administration and Medicare: Will provide information on benefits available to seniors 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
