Throughout the 119th Congress, Congressional Republicans alongside President Trump have delivered meaningful results for the American people. Take a look below to learn a bit more about some of what we have accomplished so far.

Protecting Our Children on the Internet

One of my Committee’s top priorities throughout the 119th Congress has been to take action to protect America’s young people on the internet. Last Spring, our Committee worked alongside First Lady Melania Trump to get the TAKE IT DOWN Act across the finish line and signed into law. This bill protects victims of real and deepfake ‘revenge pornography' by criminalizing the publication, or threat of publishing, of these harmful images. Additionally, it would require websites to quickly remove such content upon notice from the victims within 48 hours.

The full House also passed the Energy and Commerce Committee’s KIDS Act. This legislation is the most comprehensive, impactful children’s online safety package ever considered at the federal level. You can watch my speech on the House floor outlining this commonsense bill HERE.

As the Chairman of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, I launched an investigation into the industrial-scale fraud that is impacting the Medicaid and Medicare programs and the benefits they provide for those who need them most: seniors, expectant mothers, children, and people with disabilities. 

As a part of this investigation, our Committee has conducted multiple hearings, even bringing the state Medicaid directors from Minnesota, New York, California, and Ohio before our committee to demand answers into what they are doing to root out waste, fraud, and abuse in their programs. I look forward to continuing this investigation to safeguard these important programs that protect our most vulnerable. 

Protecting Ratepayers from Footing the Bill for Data Centers

One of the most pressing issues facing local communities across our nation is navigating the development of AI data centers. Throughout the 119th Congress, my Committee has been working to ensure that the United States wins the race for AI against the Chinese Communist Party while protecting local communities in the process. 

Over the past several months, my Committee has worked to advance the Ratepayer Protection Act, which would codify President Trump’s Executive Order to protect Americans from footing the bill for any upgrades to energy infrastructure to support data centers. 

I understand that folks have concerns about the construction of data centers in their area – know that I too share many of these concerns. As the AI industry continues to take shape, it is essential that local concerns are addressed and that local input is at the core of data center development.  Rest assured that as your Congressman, I will continue to advance policies that protect local interests and ensure that the U.S. continues to lead the world in technological innovation. 

Combating the Opioid Crisis and Illicit Drugs 

For years, the fentanyl epidemic has devastated families across every community in our nation, resulting in hundreds of thousands of deaths. Throughout this Congress, we have taken meaningful action to combat illicit drugs and provide law enforcement tools to stop these poisons from wreaking havoc on American families.

Increasing Affordability in Health Care

Throughout my time in Congress, I have worked with both Democrats and Republicans to find consensus and increase transparency and affordability in health care. Earlier this year, I released my Lower Costs, More Transparency Act, alongside Ranking Member Frank Pallone. 

This bipartisan legislation was advanced to the full House unanimously by my Committee and seeks to address a wide array of challenges that exist with price transparency in our health care system. By requiring hospitals to disclose information about the standard charges and prices for each item and service provided, bringing much-needed transparency to health care, I am confident that this bill will increase affordability and improve the well-being of countless American families.

This legislation builds on our Committee’s previous health care affordability hearings, which examined various potential solutions to lower the cost of care. We held a hearing with some of the nation’s top insurance executives who were forced to answer questions about how vertical integration in their industry has eliminated free market competition and increased costs.

Cutting Taxes for Kentucky Families

Last summer, Republicans in Congress came together to pass our marquee piece of legislation, the Working Families Tax Cuts. This comprehensive bill made permanent the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and additionally eliminated taxes on tips, overtime, and Social Security. 

Without the passage of the Working Families Tax Cuts, Kentucky families on average would have owed 25% more in federal taxes earlier this year. Our bill also made permanent the Enhanced Child Tax Credit, which now equates to $2,200 per child and increased the standard deduction for families to put more money in their pockets. This bill was an incredible win for Kentucky families, and I am glad to have played a part in getting it across the finish line.

Securing Our Border

In 2024, the American people spoke clearly, sending a Republican trifecta to Washington with a core goal of securing our Southern Border. One of the first actions Congress took in early 2025 was passing the Laken Riley Act to require the detention and deportation of illegal aliens who commit criminal offenses and allows a state to sue the Federal government for failures to enforce detention requirements.

Republicans in Congress have partnered with President Trump to provide his Administration with the tools it needed to secure our borders and begin the work of deporting criminal illegal immigrants from our nation. This bill invested $46 billion in border security measures, including 701 miles of wall, 900 miles of river barriers, and a $2.7 billion investment in technology that secures the border, and secured funding that provides for the hiring of additional Border Patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers. We also passed legislation to fully fund U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Immigration and Customs Enforcement through September 2029. Republicans have delivered on our commitment of securing our borders and continue to work to keep our families safe from violent crime. 

Restoring the American Dream of Home Ownership

The idea of home ownership has become out of reach for too many Americans. Throughout the past year and a half, Congress has taken significant steps to increase affordability and restore the American Dream of owning a home. 

As Chairman of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, I have helped lead the charge in restoring consumer choice and eliminating burdensome Biden-Harris Administration regulations that increased construction and appliance costs in new homes.

Additionally, earlier this year Congress enacted the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act into law, which will make it easier for homebuyers to streamline housing development, expand local lending, update HUD programs, and prevent large investors from purchasing more than 350 single-family homes and price out individual buyers.

Safeguarding Our Elections

Throughout the 119th Congress, House Republicans have repeatedly passed legislation to ensure the integrity of our federal elections. The House has passed the SAVE America Act which would mandate the use of photo ID to vote, require proof of citizenship to register to vote, and establish programs to support the removal of non-citizens from state voter rolls.

This important legislation now awaits consideration in the Senate. 

Eliminating Fraud in Federal Programs

Republicans in Congress came to Washington at the start of the 119th Congress eager to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse in the federal government. Over the past 20 months, Republicans have taken meaningful action to reduce fraudulent schemes that have cost taxpayers billions! 

Last summer as part of the Working Families Tax Cuts, my Committee worked to eliminate fraud in Medicaid by enacting provisions that ensure those who are illegally in our nation, able-bodied but choose not to work, or ineligible for the program do not receive taxpayer-subsidized health care. 

Additionally, in the past several months, the House has passed:

• H.R. 7726, the Stop Child Care Scams Act, which is a comprehensive bill to address fraud in federal childcare programs by increasing state reporting requirements, codifying fraud standards, and imposing stricter penalties on both states and providers who have failed to take action to counter fraudulent childcare programs. This bill would also prohibit federal funds from going to states that repeatedly misuse childcare dollars. 
• H.R. 6916, the Federal Program Integrity and Fraud Prevention Act, would prohibit those convicted of felonies, specifically related to fraud against the government, from participating in federal contracts or receiving grants and federal financial assistance.
• H.R. 8464, the Stopping Fraudulent Payments Act, would prohibit federal agencies from issuing payments without correction when significant risks are identified for improper payments and gives the U.S. Treasury new authority to return payment requests to agencies if they appear to be at risk for fraud.

Investing In Our Communities

Earlier this year, as part of the 2026 appropriations process, I was able to secure over $76 million in dedicated funding for 13 projects within Kentucky’s Second District. 

These funds include $14 million for upgrades to water infrastructure in Edmonson County, $2 million for upgrades to water mains in the Meade County Water District, and over $1 million for new equipment for law enforcement agencies within our district. You can learn more about all 13 projects HERE!

In April, the House also passed our version of the long overdue Farm Bill, which includes 12 titles to provide stability in commodity pricing, make investments in conservation programs to address soil health, erosion, and water quality, as well as continue the long history of bipartisan support for rural development initiatives that ensure a strong rural economy. Agriculture is vital to Kentucky’s Second District, which is home to 20,000 farms. I will continue to advocate for the producers who do so much to keep our nation fed.

Working to Expand Mammoth Cave National Park

Our district is fortunate to be home to one of the world’s natural wonders, Mammoth Cave National Park. This park draws hundreds of thousands of visitors and contributes nearly $90 million to our local economy.

Last Spring, I was proud to introduce the Mammoth Cave National Park Boundary Adjustment Act, alongside Senator McConnell, to expand protections for the cave system’s important biodiversity and rich history, ensuring that it can be studied, maintained, and enjoyed by future generations of Americans. This bill recently received a legislative hearing in the House Committee on Natural Resources Subcommittee on Federal Lands, which featured testimony by Edmonson County Judge Executive Scott Lindsey. You can learn more about this bill HERE.
