Dear Friends, In keeping House Republicans’ Commitment to America, we passed the Lower Energy Costs Act to increase domestic energy production and reverse the impact of President Biden’s burdensome policies. In his first month in office, President Biden enacted policies that cancelled the Keystone XL pipeline and issued a moratorium on oil and gas leases on federal lands. President Biden has also encouraged federal agencies to enact policies that discourage domestic oil and gas production. Under President Biden’s policies, gas hit a record high at $5.01 in June 2022 and remains more than a dollar higher than what the price was when President Biden took office. |

My resolution was included in this comprehensive energy package and reaffirms U.S. energy dominance by strengthening a bipartisan decision Congress made in 2015 to repeal the export ban on crude oil and petroleum products. This decision has elevated the U.S. to a global energy superpower. |

Putin uses funding from the sale of Russian oil to fund his evil war in Ukraine. In addition to the Lower Energy Costs Act, the Republican House majority has passed the Protecting America’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve from China Act, which prevents oil from our country’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve from being exported to China or sold to an entity associated with the Chinese Communist Party. Further, I supported and the House passed the Strategic Production Response Act. This bill aims to prevent the Biden Administration’s policy of drawing down our country’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve for non-emergencies. The Strategic Petroleum Reserve was created to supply energy after a natural disaster or another emergency. The Strategic Production Response Act would require President Biden to put forward a plan to increase domestic energy production on federal lands if he wants to withdraw from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve for non-emergency reasons.
