Before we begin this newsletter, I want to take a moment to acknowledge the solemn 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. On what will forever be remembered as one of America’s darkest hours, which saw the murder of nearly 3,000 of our neighbors, we also saw our nation be brought together in truly unparalleled ways. It was an honor to join Kentuckians in Bowling Green to honor those lost and the bravery and sacrifice of the first responders who ran into burning buildings to save lives. |
Over the past several weeks, I’ve had the opportunity to meet with folks across our district about issues important to them. Take a look below at some of what I’ve been up to. |
Hosting Administrator Oz in KY-02 I recently had the opportunity to welcome Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Dr. Mehmet Oz to the T.J. Health Pavilion in Glasgow. During his visit, the Administrator and I met with health care leaders from across our district to discuss how the Working Families Tax Cuts' $50 billion Rural Health Transformation Program is bolstering rural health care across the nation. |
This historic investment allocated over $210 million to the Commonwealth to support rural hospitals and improve health outcomes for Kentucky families. In addition to our discussion with health care leaders, we also spoke with health care providers at the facility to learn more about the work they do to administer care to their patients in rural Kentucky. |
Working with Local LEaders to Protect Children on the Internet I enjoyed meeting with Bullitt County Commonwealth’s Attorney Amanda Hernandez Troutman to hear about the work she is doing to keep Kentuckians safe, especially our children on the internet. |
We discussed the importance of the work the House Committee on Energy and Commerce has done in getting the KIDS Act passed on the House floor to enhance parents’ oversight of their children’s online use, require age-verification for adult content, and modernize online privacy protections for children and teens. |
Working to Ensure Access to Affordable Prescription Drugs During his visit to Kentucky’s Second District, Administrator Oz and I stopped by Pharmacy Express, an independent pharmacy owned by the Williams family in Glasgow. |
During our visit, we discussed the important role that independent pharmacies play and the way that Trump Rx is helping connect their customers to more affordable drugs. We also talked about the work Republicans on my Committee accomplished to reform pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) and lower the costs of drugs. |
Working to Provide Reliable and Affordable Energy |
I had a productive meeting with TVA leadership to discuss TVA’s recent investments to expand baseload power in the region to better provide their ratepayers with affordable and reliable energy! |
Meeting with Kentucky Manufacturers Earlier this year, Tate Inc. announced a $76 million investment in Glasgow, which will generate hundreds of jobs in our local community. |
I enjoyed visiting their facility and learning about how the components they manufacture are putting Kentucky at the forefront of the industry of the future. |
Visiting with Health Care Providers in Bardstown As Chairman of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, I am working to advance policies that make health care more affordable, transparent, and accessible for Kentucky families. |
It was great to meet with the team at CommonSpirit St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bardstown about how we can collaborate to benefit the health and well-being of the Kentuckians they serve. |
Supporting Kentucky Infrastructure |
I enjoyed meeting with the team at the Hinkle Contracting/Mulzer Crushed Stone - Bypass Yard in Owensboro to discuss the work Congress is doing to invest in the next generation of infrastructure projects in the United States. It was great to tour their facility and learn more about the role they play in supporting Kentucky infrastructure. |
The Next Generation of Military Leaders Last week, I hosted my annual Service Academy Information Night to provide prospective applicants to U.S. service academies and collegiate ROTC programs with information about the application process. As a graduate of West Point, I know firsthand how attending one of these incredible institutions can positively shape a young person’s future. |
The future of our military and nation is bright with these young Americans who are eager to serve in uniform. |
Visiting the Boys & Girls Club of Radcliffe |
Thank you to the Boys and Girls Club of Radcliff for showing me around your facility. It was great to hear about the important work you are doing to support families in Radcliff and the surrounding community, including for our military families stationed on Fort Knox. |
Supporting Kentucky Farmers I recently had a productive meeting with the Barren County Farm Bureau to give an update on the work Congress is doing to support our farmers who work tirelessly to keep our nation fed. |
Over the past year and a half, I have voted in favor of legislation that reduced tax burdens on family farms, invested billions for commodity programs, and voted to pass the House Farm Bill. Congress is working hard to provide certainty and stability for American agriculture. |
Learning About Investments in Our Seniors |
It was wonderful to tour the nearly completed senior wing at the YMCA in Glasgow recently! This facility is currently home to one of the largest senior programs in the Commonwealth, and this expansion will allow them to improve their services to Kentuckians. |
Touring the UofL Brown Cancer Center |
Last month, I had the opportunity to tour the newly opened UofL Health Brown Cancer Center in Shepherdsville. This impressive facility will improve the health outcomes for cancer patients and increase access to quality care for all Kentuckians. |
Meeting with the Kentucky Broadcasters Association |
I enjoyed speaking with the board of the Kentucky Broadcasters Association at their annual meeting in Bowling Green. We discussed the work Congress is doing to support local broadcasters and strengthen public safety in our communities. |
Restoring the American Dream of Home Ownership The idea of home ownership has become out of reach for too many Americans. I recently joined the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, Members of the General Assembly, and housing groups from across the Commonwealth to discuss pathways to restore the American Dream of owning a home. |
As Chairman of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, I have helped lead the charge in restoring consumer choice and eliminating burdensome Biden-Harris Administration regulations that increased construction and appliance costs in new homes.
Additionally, earlier this year Congress enacted the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act into law, which will streamline housing development, expand local lending, and prevent large investors from purchasing more than 350 single-family homes and pricing out individual buyers. |
Condemning Socialism Socialism has failed every time it’s been attempted, yet sadly it has a prominent role in America’s left. Recently, the House voted to condemn socialism in all its forms. |
Republicans in Congress will continue to oppose the radicalism of socialism. America will never be a socialist country. |
Preventing a Government Shutdown Congress recently passed legislation to provide government funding through December 11, 2026. |
I voted in favor of a Continuing Resolution to give Congress additional time to finalize the appropriations process without running the risk of another detrimental government shutdown. House Republicans have worked to responsibly fund and keep the federal government open. |
