Dear Friends,
This week, the House was back in session, where we voted on key pieces of legislation that would repeal several of the Biden Administration’s burdensome policies, including a mandate that required all new car sales to be zero-emission by 2035. As the Chairman of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, I have and will continue to support commonsense policies that put Americans first and give consumers a choice. I want to hear from you, do you support repealing these electric vehicle mandates?

Should California’s liberal policies mandate that all cars sold in the U.S. be electric vehicles by 2035?

I wanted to take a minute to address the recent and unprecedented floods that have impacted our district. I spent the last two weeks visiting with local officials and first responders to tour the flood damage and hear about counties’ ongoing recovery efforts. In total, I had the opportunity to meet with local officials in Breckinridge, Hardin, Bullitt, Ohio, McLean, Hancock, Daviess, and Nelson counties.

Over the course of the past several weeks, my office and I have remained in constant contact with Kentucky Emergency Management, as well as federal officials in the Trump White House and the Federal Emergency Management Agency or FEMA. I am pleased to report that last week, on April 25th, President Trump approved Kentucky’s request for a major disaster declaration.
In the coming weeks, the counties eligible for FEMA assistance will be updated as emergency management officials continue to assess damage. Additional requests to FEMA have already been made to expand assistance to more counties affected by these storms for both Individual Assistance and Public Assistance. For more information about Kentucky Emergency Management resources, click here. To learn more about who is eligible for and how to register for assistance through FEMA, click here.

Sending the TAKE IT DOWN Act to President Trump’s Desk
This week, the House voted overwhelmingly to send the TAKE IT DOWN Act to President Trump’s desk and establish recourse to protect victims of real and deepfake ‘revenge pornography’ on the internet. This bill passed the Senate earlier this year and has been a top priority of First Lady Melania Trump.
Too many families and communities across the country have been devastated by the dangers posed by bad actors online. This sadly includes Kentucky’s Second District, as we recently saw with the passing of Elijah Heacock.
Prior to the bill’s passage, I had the opportunity to speak on the House floor to discuss the importance of taking action to protect Americans, especially our children, on the internet. You can watch my remarks here. I am hopeful that the TAKE IT DOWN Act will be signed into law soon to honor the memories of Americans, like Elijah, and that this law will prevent additional tragedies in the future.

Welcoming Secretary Burgum to Kentucky’s Second District
I recently had the opportunity to welcome Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum to our district for a visit to Mammoth Cave National Park. His visit coincided with National Park Week. While at the park, he and I stressed the importance of preserving our public lands for Americans to enjoy.
We had the opportunity to receive a guided tour from National Park staff and discussed the rich geological and cultural history of Mammoth Cave. We also spoke with the park superintendent about the ongoing investments being made to improve the visitor experience.
It was an honor to join Secretary Burgum as he visited the world’s longest known cave system, right here in our back yard. This Kentucky natural wonder draws hundreds of thousands of visitors and contributes nearly $90 million to our local economy. I’m looking forward to continuing to work with the Secretary to responsibly unleash the potential of our public lands.

Highlighting the Talents of Kentucky’s Young People
Last week, I had the opportunity to host the participants of the 2025 Congressional Art Competition and the first and fourth place overall winners for 2024 Congressional App Challenge for receptions and awards ceremonies at Barren County High School.
Our district’s first place overall artwork, titled Dry Road, will be hung in the U.S. Capitol for one year. Other winning Art Competition submissions will also be proudly displayed in my Congressional offices. The first place overall submission for the Congressional App Challenge, Allergy Aware, helps connect individuals with food allergies, as well as their friends and family members, with resources to identify and even treat common allergic reactions.
Every year, I am always so impressed by the creativity and ingenuity these students show through these competitions. I know that all of these students have bright futures ahead, and I look forward to seeing their continued success in whatever their futures hold. Keep up the great work!

Visiting With Kentuckians Around the Commonwealth
I recently spent an afternoon with the Breckinridge Chamber of Commerce visiting businesses along Main Street in Hardinsburg. The recently completed revitalization of the area is incredible and will help drive our local economy!
It was so fun to speak with students at various elementary schools in the district about the importance of the separation of powers and about my work as their Congressman. Our future is in good hands with these young Kentuckians.
Kentucky manufacturing businesses are so important to our economy and way of life. It was great to tour Mouser Custom Cabinetry in Elizabethtown to learn about the work they do.
One of the most special parts about being a Congressman is getting the chance to nominate young Americans for U.S. service academy appointments. Congratulations to Harmony and Lena from KY-02 on your appointment to U.S. Service Academies. Our district is so proud of you!
The team at the Great Southern Preserving Wood Treatment Facility in Millwood is doing important work that is driving our economy. Thanks for showing me around your facility!
