On April 25, Biden’s Environmental Protection Agency released the strictest regulations against fossil fuel power plants in the history of our nation. These mandates set standards that are not technologically nor economically achievable in an effort to regulate coal power out of existence. This is just another example of the Biden administration's anti-domestic energy policies that will raise costs and put reliability of our electric grid at risk.
The rule makes regulatory compliance so expensive that coal plants may have no other choice than to be forced to shut down. Plant closures would have a devastating impact on communities that rely on fossil fuels for energy and would put more pressure on an already strained electric grid.
This week, I introduced a Congressional Review Act resolution alongside Congressman Mike Collins (GA-10) that will reverse this Biden administration rule. As our electricity demands across Kentucky and the nation grow, we cannot lose a key portion of our power generation that keeps the lights on and costs low.
We must look to expand our energy portfolio using an all of the above agenda that does not single out fossil fuels but embraces all forms of energy to fuel the next generation of innovation around our country.
