Brett’s Bulletin: Aiding Those Suffering From Alzheimer’s and Securing our Supply Chains Dear Friends,Throughout September, I had the opportunity to meet with many of you across KY-02 and in Washington DC. From our proud VFW veterans and gold star families, to cancer advocates and officials from the University of Kentucky, I have been honored to hear from so many of you about how I can continue to best serve you in Congress. In addition, this past month I was able to pass another bill through the House of Representatives. Brett’s Bulletin: Aiding Those Suffering From Alzheimer’s and Securing our Supply Chains

Dear Friends,

Throughout September, I had the opportunity to meet with many of you across KY-02 and in Washington DC. From our proud VFW veterans and gold star families, to cancer advocates and officials from the University of Kentucky, I have been honored to hear from so many of you about how I can continue to best serve you in Congress. In addition, this past month I was able to pass another bill through the House of Representatives. My Building Our Largest Dementia (BOLD) Infrastructure for Alzheimer’s Reauthorization Act of 2024, will provide critical resources and support services to Alzheimer’s Disease patients, their loved ones, and health care providers working tirelessly to improve the quality of life for Alzheimer’s Disease patients. Additionally, my bill, the Building America’s Health Care Workforce Act, passed the House Energy & Commerce Committee, to fill significant gaps in our long-term care workforce and ensure seniors maintain access to high-quality, affordable health care. I look forward to meeting even more of you in the coming weeks to speak about how I can best bring our shared values to the halls of Congress.

My Bill to Provide Access to Care and Support Services for Alzheimer’s Patients and Their Families Passed The House of Representatives

On September 17, I was proud to see my bill the Building Our Largest Dementia (BOLD) Infrastructure for Alzheimer’s Reauthorization Act of 2024 unanimously pass the House of Representatives.

The BOLD Reauthorization Act would enable continued research into Alzheimer’s Disease, invest in caregiver support services, including more hands-on educational resources for those caregiving for their loved ones, and help support local efforts to detect and diagnose Alzheimer’s Disease sooner, especially for those in rural and medically underserved communities.

Families and patients across the Second District and our Commonwealth have long dealt with the affects of Alzheimer’s and I am proud to continue to help lead the effort to provide these families the resources they need to once and for all end this terrible disease.

My Bill to Help Address the Nursing Home Workforce Shortage Passed the Energy & Commerce Committee

On September 18, I was also proud to see my bill the Building America’s Health Care Workforce Act, pass the House Energy & Commerce Committee.

This legislation will help our nursing homes and long term care facilities fill long standing workforce shortages they have seen since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic and bring more qualified workers into senior care settings. This will ensure our vulnerable populations receive the care they need at the bedside, while also creating a pipeline for certified nurse assistants for years to come.

I am proud to be leading the effort to ensure those most in need have access to the care they deserve.

Introduced a Bill to Help Secure Our Supply Chains

On September 27, I was honored to introduce a bill to help bring our crucial supply chains home to the US and reduce our reliance on foreign adversaries like the Chinse Communist Party (CCP).

My bill the Securing America’s Midstream Critical Materials Processing Act, which I introduced alongside Congressman Dan Newhouse (WA-04) and Congressman Russ Fulcher (ID-01), will help provide a pathway to reshoring the processing of critical materials and uncovers the extent to which the CCP has exploited this supply chain.

If our nation is to become energy independent once again and reshore critical job creating industries, then we must produce and process critical materials here at home. I am proud to be leading the effort to reduce our nation’s reliance on the CCP and bring manufacturing back to the US.
