Brett’s Bulletin: Stay Safe! Dear Friends,Over the weekend many communities across our region were hit hard by a storm that has caused widespread flooding and damage to homes across our area. Then another round of winter storms tore through our communities, leaving behind even more dangerous conditions. My thoughts and prayers are with all affected by these terrible storms and please be safe navigating in these conditions. In Congress, we have made great strides in fulfilling our commitment to combating issues at the border. Recently I helped lead the passage of the HALT Fentanyl Act in the House of Representatives. This key bill will allow our dedicated law enforcement to get deadly drugs like illicit fentanyl derivatives off our streets by making permanent a class-wide scheduling order for fentanyl-related substances. I am proud of the work we are doing in Congress to help make our Kentucky communities safer.

Representative Brett Guthrie

Brett’s Bulletin: Stay Safe!

Dear Friends,

Over the weekend many communities across our region were hit hard by a storm that has caused widespread flooding and damage to homes across our area.

Please continue to use caution when driving in inclement weather as roads and bridges may be icy and slippery.

President Trump and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem approved a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) request for Kentucky within 12 hours of it being requested. More information is on the way, but currently:

Residents with immediate needs should complete the Rapid Needs Assessment Form online or call 502-607-6665 for assistance.

Since Day 1 in Office, President Trump has been determined to keep our communities safe by deporting illegal aliens who have committed crimes in our nation. Do you support President Trump’s agenda of securing our Southern border and deporting illegal aliens who violate our laws?

Helped Lead the HALT Fentanyl Act to take this Deadly Drug off our Streets

halt

On February 6, I was proud to lead the passage of the HALT Fentanyl Act through the House of Representatives with strong bipartisan support. This is a key priority for me as Chairman of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.

This bill will place all fentanyl related substances as Schedule I and give our law enforcement the support needed to stop illicit drugs from entering our communities. With over 107,000 people dying from drug overdoses in 2023, Congress needed to take action. Synthetic opioids—like Illicit fentanyl— are now the number one cause of death among adults 18-49, more than cancer, heart disease, and car accidents. Taking these deadly drugs off our streets, will provide our law enforcement the resources needed to keep our communities safe.

I am proud to be leading the charge to keep our nation safe from the deadly drugs being trafficked across our Southern Border.

Passed Bill to Protect Law Enforcement

On February 13, I was proud to vote for Congressman Juan Ciscomani’s bill, the Agent Raul Gonzalez Officer Safety Act which passed the House with bipartisan support. This bill creates harsher criminal penalties for intentionally fleeing from Border Patrol agents, or any law enforcement officer assisting the U.S. Border Patrol, including serious jail time.

We cannot continue to put our border agents’ safety in jeopardy and this bill is an important step towards securing our Southern Border and protecting our brave law enforcement officers.

Powering Our America’s Future: Committee on Energy and Commerce Roundup

As the Chairman of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, I have been focused on restoring American energy dominance, protecting access to lifesaving treatments while lowering the cost of health care, and protecting our children online while ensuring America remains a leader in technological innovation.

Check out what the Energy and Commerce Committee has been focused on these past two weeks:

On February 5, I was honored to join the Subcommittee on Energy to discuss how the United States must implement an all-of-the-above energy agenda to improve our grid and reinstate American energy dominance. This will not only lower prices for American consumers but also help to improve our national security.
