Brett’s Bulletin: Lowering Prices for Kentucky and Delivering for Our Servicemembers Dear Friends,I have had the privilege of meeting with many of you over the last several weeks across Kentucky and in Washington D.C., including with our KY-02 Congressional Art Competition Winner who recently saw her artwork hung at the U.S. Capitol building. I have been hard at work with my House Republican colleagues delivering a 15% raise for our enlisted servicemembers, as well as providing significant investments in our national security,  including voting to provide significantly more funding for the construction of the wall at our Southern border. I was also proud to see my bill, which will help drive development of nuclear energy sites, be signed into law. I am honored to represent you in Congress, and I will never stop fighting to lower the costs of everyday goods and support our hard-working families across the Commonwealth.

Brett’s Bulletin: Lowering Prices for Kentucky and Delivering for Our Servicemembers

Dear Friends,

I have had the privilege of meeting with many of you over the last several weeks across Kentucky and in Washington D.C., including with our KY-02 Congressional Art Competition Winner who recently saw her artwork hung at the U.S.

My Brownfields Nuclear Sites Bill Passes Senate, Heads to President’s Desk

On June 18, my bill the Nuclear for Brownfields Site Preparation Act passed the U.S. Senate as part of the larger ADVANCE Act and recently on July 9 was signed into law. This is a historic piece of legislation that will shape the future of nuclear energy in our nation for decades to come.

One of my central priorities in Congress is to help make America energy independent once again, and put Kentucky back at the forefront of our nation’s energy production. This legislation helps us to do just that by using Kentucky’s best resource, our incredible energy workforce, along with our existing energy infrastructure.

Unfortunately, due to the Left's War on Coal, many coal fired plants have been forced to close, leaving behind valuable infrastructure that can be used to spur future energy production. This bill not only helps to ensure that this energy infrastructure is used to encourage future innovation in nuclear energy, but helps to ensure we make use of our dedicated energy workforce to put our nation back on the path to energy dominance and lower costs for everyday Americans.

Delivering Historic Pay Increase to Servicemembers and Increasing Quality of Life for Families

I recently voted to ensure that our nation maintains our military readiness and remains the best fighting force in the world through this year Defense Appropriations Act. This includes a 15% pay increase for junior enlisted servicemembers and resources to ensure our nation has the tools it needs to maintain our national security.

I am especially proud that this legislation improves housing programs for our enlisted servicemembers and creates a new pilot program that expands apprenticeship and career training for retiring servicemembers. This bill also ensures we prioritize our national security by securing our Southern border and supporting our greatest allies like Israel and Taiwan.

I am committed to continue working to ensure our nation is the safest and most secure country in the world. I'm honored to be a part of the House majority that continues this commitment to providing for our men and women that sacrifice so much in defense of our nation.

Historic Supreme Court Ruling Gives Power Back to the American People

On June 28 the U.S. Supreme Court issued a historic ruling in the cases of Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo and Relentless, Inc. v. Department of Commerce which overturned the 40 year old “Chevron Doctrine” and restored Article 1 authority to Congress as our Founding Father’s intended.

For decades bureaucrats in Washington D.C. have had immense authority to control nearly every asset of rulemaking, having virtually unchecked authority and controlling nearly every asset of the American economy. This crucial decision will now give the American people a stronger voice in determining policies that impact every aspect of our way of life, instead of the status quo, Washington-knows-best policy-making.

As a member of the House Energy & Commerce committee I have been hard at work the past year and a half working to lower the costs of everyday goods, energy, and health care this Congress. This Supreme Court decision provides our Committee an even greater ability to push back on the Biden administration’s policies that are hurting our communities and raising costs on everyday Kentuckians.

I am honored to continue fighting for you now with even greater authority to make the lives of Kentuckians better across the Commonwealth.

Questioned Michael Phelps About Doping in the Olympics

On June 25, Olympic swimmers Michael Phelps (28 Olympic medals) and Allison Schmitt (10 Olympic medals) testified before the Energy & Commerce Committee’s Oversight & Investigations subcommittee where I had a chance to ask them both about the ramifications of Chinese and Russian athletes doping in the Olympics.

It was powerful to learn that the world anti-doping agency has turned a blind eye to allow China and Russia to continue to allow this inexplicable and illegal behavior. Click hear to hear more of my questions to these Olympians and what is going on in China and Russia.
