Dear Friends,
Over the past few weeks, the House has been in session, working hard to ensure Americans have access to reliable and affordable energy, invest in our national security, and take action to reduce the cost of health care for Americans. Take a look below to see some of what we accomplished in December!
Giving Kids a Chance I’m thrilled to report that the House unanimously passed the Mikaela Naylon Give Kids a Chance Act, which will help accelerate research and development of treatments for rare pediatric diseases, including cancer.
This bill importantly reauthorizes the Rare Pediatric Priority Review Voucher Program through 2029, which prioritizes developing treatments and cures for rare diseases. It also provides new authority to require pediatric cancer trials for new combinations of drug therapies, takes enforcement action against companies failing to meet pediatric study requirements, and increases access to generic drugs for patients.
This bill will give families of children facing rare diseases and cancer much-needed hope.

Supporting Those Battling Addiction Earlier this month, President Trump signed my SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Reauthorization Act into law! This bipartisan bill reauthorizes key public health programs that help those struggling with substance abuse disorder access treatment and recovery programs.
Countless families across the nation have been devastated by the impacts of drug addiction and overdoses. I’m glad to see this bill receive such wide support in Congress and be signed into law by President Trump. It will, without a doubt, save lives.
Providing Clarity to American Students Last week, I introduced the Student Financial Clarity Act to increase price transparency for American students as they navigate higher education opportunities.
My bipartisan bill would allow students to easily access information about the costs and outcomes at institutions and individual programs so they can evaluate the program that is best suited for their academic interests and financial means. I’m grateful to the House Committee on Education and Workforce for already advancing my bill out of their committee. Stay tuned for additional updates!

Supporting Counties Along the Ohio River In November, I was proud to introduce legislation to expand the Delta Regional Authority to include Daviess, Hancock, and Ohio counties.
This bill will expand economic opportunities for well over 100,000 Kentuckians residing in these three counties and provide pathways to update existing infrastructure, enabling the region to continue to grow in the future.
Reducing Burdensome Red Tape All year, the House Republicans have been busy at work to eliminate burdensome regulations that have prevented the construction of new infrastructure projects to support our communities.
This month, we passed the PERMIT Act to reform the Clean Water Act to return it to its original mission of protecting the health of our waterways while also allowing growth and investment in our economy. We also passed the SPEED Act to amend the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) to streamline environmental reviews and reduce costly litigation that has prevented investments in America’s infrastructure.
Investing in Our National Security Both the House and Senate voted to pass the annual National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) before President Trump signed it into law on December 18th. This NDAA secures a much-needed shift in America’s military posture by authorizing over $900 billion in funding towards programs to revitalize our military industrial capacity and put our servicemembers first.
Additionally, this year’s NDAA authorized $50 billion for a Fort Knox aviation support facility and supports military museums, like the Patton Museum. This bill fulfills House Republicans’ and President Trump’s promises by investing in our military industrial capabilities, securing all servicemembers a well-deserved pay raise, and more.
Unleashing American Energy This month, the full House has voted on five bills from the House Committee on Energy and Commerce to reform energy permitting to ensure Americans have access to affordable and reliable energy.
These bills addressed various issues facing our energy dominance agenda, and if enacted, will reduce federal burdens placed on states and local governments to ensure that public utilities can meet the growing energy demand.
You can learn more about these bills here and here.

Working to Protect Children on the Internet The House Committee on Energy and Commerce has a broad jurisdiction, which includes regulations regarding online safety. Earlier in the year, our committee worked to get the Take It Down Act signed into law to address deepfake and revenge pornography online, but our work is not finished.
This month, our committee held a subcommittee markup to examine and advance nearly two dozen online safety bills to protect America’s young people on the internet. Stay tuned in the new year as we continue our work on online safety legislation.
Kenergy Testimony It was great to have Kenergy CEO Tim Lindahl testify before our House Committee on Energy & Commerce hearing examining the cyber and physical threats our energy grid faces.
Ensuring the security of our energy grid is essential to providing affordable and reliable energy for Americans.
Taking Action to Lower the Cost of Health Care House Republicans are taking action to get tangible results to improve care and lower costs.
This week, the House passed the Lower Health Care Premiums for All Americans Act, which includes several health care provisions that would provide an 11% reduction in health care premiums and make it easier for small businesses to band together to provide health insurance for their employees.
O&I Hearing The implementation of artificial intelligence in health care has already shown exciting new innovative treatments and possibilities.
But that doesn’t come without risks. This week, our House Committee on Energy and Commerce subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations held a hearing to have a thorough conversation about the risks to national and global security associated with the advancements in biomedical innovation paired with AI.
It was great to meet with University of Kentucky President, Dr. Capilouto and Mark Birdwhistell earlier this month during their visit to the nation’s capital. We discussed ongoing initiatives at the university and our continued collaboration to support health care in Kentucky.
Parker Malone and Randy Lanham of Owensboro had the opportunity to perform Christmas music at the White House! Really incredible to see KY-02 represented by these musicians during this special holiday season!
I had the opportunity to sit down with the USDA Rural Development State Director for Kentucky, Travis Burton. We discussed the ongoing work USDA is doing to support Kentuckians and invest in our rural communities.
It was great to meet with retired Brigadier General Jim Shane to discuss the work my committee and Congress is doing to counter China’s dominance on critical mineral projects.
It was an honor to host representatives from the Knox Regional Development Alliance in D.C.! We discussed ways we can continue to collaborate to grow our economy and support those on and around Fort Knox.
Sincerely,
